Course Description
Welcome to Build, the second certification in the Teaching with AI series. Now that you have a solid foundation, this course will guide you through the most critical and creative phase of your journey – learning AI course design – where you will be actively redesigning your courses, assignments, and assessments to thoughtfully integrate artificial intelligence. This is where policy meets practice.
This 6-8 hour course is for educators who are ready to move beyond basic tool use and start making strategic pedagogical choices. You will learn how to redesign assignments using the META Framework (Metacognition, Ethics, Tools, Application) to foster higher-order thinking and academic integrity. You will also learn to use the AI Fluency Map to create effective guidance that builds your students’ own AI literacy. By the end of this certification, you will have a portfolio piece—a fully redesigned, AI-integrated assignment—that is ready to implement in your classroom.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this certification, you will be able to:
- Map AI integration points strategically across a course using backward design.
- Apply the META Framework to redesign assignments that are authentic, engaging, and ethically sound.
- Develop formative feedback strategies that balance AI efficiency with human insight.
- Create student-facing resources that build AI literacy, guided by the AI Fluency Map.
- Demonstrate FAFI Level 2 fluency in Teaching Practice Integration and Student Guidance.
